HRH Crown Prince meets NIHR Chairman and members
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met the newly appointed Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, and NIHR members, at Riffa Palace.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of His Majesty King Hamad’s reform programme in further enhancing the rights of all Bahrainis. He emphasised that the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable reform and development underpins the advancement of human rights based on the principles laid down in Bahrain’s National Action Charter of 2001.
His Royal Highness further highlighted the wide range of human rights initiatives that have taken place in the Kingdom, emphasising the ongoing efforts of independent institutions that continue to ensure the protection of individual rights and justice in Bahrain. In this regard, His Royal Highness noted Bahrain’s commitment to upholding individual rights in accordance with internationally recognised standards.
Speaking about the significant role of the NIHR in further developing human rights and reinforcing the principles enshrined in Bahrain’s constitution, His Royal Highness praised the NIHR’s efforts to represent the Kingdom in various international and regional human rights forums and events.
His Royal Highness then congratulated the new Chairman and members of the NIHR, wishing them every success in their duty to develop, promote and protect the human rights of the citizens and residents of Bahrain.
For their part, the Chairman and members of the NIHR expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness, and thanked him for his support to the NIHR and the enhancement of human rights in the Kingdom.
