Deputy King meets new IISS Middle East Executive Director
Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa today met with the new Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in the Middle East, Sir John Jenkins at Riffa Palace.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness noted how the IISS Manama Dialogue has emerged as the region’s foremost annual strategic security conference. In this regard, His Royal Highness highlighted Bahrain’s firm commitment to advancing multilateral engagement and private diplomacy to address issues of global peace and security.
His Royal Highness went on to stress that Bahrain would continue to work closely with the Institute in order to provide a unique opportunity every year for leaders to gather and discuss approaches to the security challenges facing the region.
His Royal Highness then extended his best wishes to Sir Jenkins as he undertakes his new role at the Institute, and expressed hope that the Manama Dialogue would continue to serve as the premiere strategic security forum for regional and world leaders.
Sir Jenkins expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and praised Bahrain’s continued cooperation with the Institute over the past 10 years. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also attended the meeting.
