Crown Prince meets US Secretary of Defense

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met the United States Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, at the Ritz Carlton in Manama.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue, being held this week from 6 – 8 December in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and attended by Secretary Hagel alongside other international figures. The meeting was an opportunity for His Royal Highness and Secretary Hagel to discuss the strong relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States and ongoing collaboration. In addition, His Royal Highness and Secretary Hagel discussed the key topics of the Manama Dialogue, in particular stability and security in the region and the world.   Both agreed that the forum is invaluable means to creating debate and discussion around these issues.

His Royal Highness highlighted the close ties between Bahrain and the United States, noting that relations are both strategic and based on a shared vision for security and development in the region.

For his part, Secretary Hagel welcomed Bahrain’s hosting of the Manama Dialogue, and reiterated the event’s importance to developing policy on key regional issues.
