Crown Prince meets Shaikh Saleh Kamel
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met with Shaikh Saleh Kamel, founder and chairman of the Al Baraka Group at Gudaibiya Palace.
His Royal Highness discussed the World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC) hosted in Bahrain this week, which Shaikh Saleh Kamel attended. He stated that Bahrain was pleased to hosting this important conference and to see a high turnout from the major regional figures in the industry. His Royal Highness emphasised Bahrain’s firm commitment to supporting Islamic banking and strengthening the Kingdom’s role as a hub for financial institutions in the region, building on a reputation that has developed for over three decades.
His Royal Highness said that such global conferences offer a great opportunity to discuss and debate the role of financial institutions in both job creation and facilitating investment.
His Royal Highness went on to praise Shaikh Saleh Kamel for his pioneering role in developing Islamic finance.
The meeting looked at the importance of Islamic banking and finance in the Middle East and its role in the broader economic development within the region, while stressing on the importance of continuing the development of the industry and maintaining its high performance.
