Crown Prince hosts a banquet for British Delegation

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, this evening met at Shaikh Hamad Palace The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, The Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP, Secretary of State for Defence, and the British delegation participating in the 10th Manama Dialogue, on the occasion of the signing of the military agreement between the Governments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom (UK).

His Royal Highness lauded the historic and strategic bilateral relations between the UK and Bahrain. He particularly highlighted the UK’s support in recognising the Kingdom’s programme of reform and development as well as the success of recent elections.

His Royal Highness stressed the significance of the partnership with the UK in working towards addressing various security challenges in the Middle East. In this regard, His Royal Highness noted the importance of pursuing a holistic approach in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism across the region, aligning tactical efforts with regional strategies and international political and economic policies.

Turning to the Manama Dialogue, His Royal Highness highlighted the role the unique forum plays in advancing multilateral engagement and private diplomacy to resolve conflict and applying new thinking to the security concerns of the region and their international implications. In this regard, His Royal Highness extended his gratitude for the significant participation by UK officials at this year’s forum.

In response, both ministers expressed their appreciation to His Royal Highness for his continued support in enhancing bilateral ties and affirmed Bahrain’s important role in supporting regional stability and security. The ministers went on to highlight the key themes addressed by His Royal Highness in his opening speech of the Manama Dialogue, specifically the various faces of terrorism which must be uncovered, confronted and defeated.

His Royal Highness then hosted a banquet dinner in honour of the British delegation, joined by several members of the Royal Family ,senior Bahraini officials and other dignitaries.
