HRH the Crown Prince meets Minister of Interior and Minister of Works

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, received today at Gudaibiya Palace His Excellency Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and His Excellency Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Minister of Works.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness received from the Minister of Interior a final report compiled by the Southern Governorate and from the Minister of Works an independent technical report regarding the incident that involved the collapse of parts of a ceiling in a shopping mall in the Kingdom.

His Royal Highness stressed the importance of continuously inspecting and assessing all public facilities to ensure the safety of the public, which is of paramount concern.

His Royal Highness then commended the responsiveness of and cooperation between all concerned authorities and hailed the transparency of the procedures to determine the cause of the incident. His Royal Highness also issues directives to ensure immediate implementation of the recommendations contained in the reports from the Minister of Interior and Minister of Work to prevent such incidents in the future.

For their parts, both Ministers expressed their gratitude to His Royal Highness for issuing his directives and appreciation of his continuous support for the investigations of the incident, highlighting that this confirmed His Royal Highness’s insistence on protecting public safety.

The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
