Deputy King attends Bahrain Defence Force housing units completion ceremony
Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa attended a ceremony to mark the completion of the second phase of housing units allocated to the members of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) at Zayed city this morning.
His Royal Highness stated that Bahrain’s citizens are key to the country’s continuing and sustainable development, and emphasised development projects that address the needs of citizens should be a priority.
His Royal Highness also highlighted that housing developments account for the majority of development projects underway in the Kingdom, in order to meet the housing needs of all Bahraini families. His Royal Highness went on to emphasise that this prioritisation reflects His Majesty King Hamad’s directives.
His Royal Highness also affirmed that the various projects will be implemented in line with transparency regulations under the Kingdom’s development programme to ensure efficiency and to deliver a significant improvement in public services.
His Royal Highness further noted that housing development receives a great deal of interest from His Majesty King Hamad, reflected by His Majesty’s recent directives to swiftly develop forty thousand housing units to fully address the needs of Bahrain’s citizens. His Royal Highness went on to praise the efforts of the Government in preparing timetables, funding schedules, financial tranches, and priorities for housing development in light of His Majesty’s directives.
During the ceremony, His Excellency Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar, the Minister of Housing, also gave a speech in which he extended his appreciation for His Royal Highness’s support and attendance of the event. The Minister also stressed the Ministry’s commitment to fulfilling His Majesty the King’s directives aimed at providing means of increasing the living standards of Bahrain’s citizens, a commitment enshrined in the 2001’s National Action Charter. The Minister further emphasized that the continuing support of the leadership and government of the Kingdom to the housing development project attests to the importance of these projects to the overall development of the Kingdom. The Minister concluded by expressing his gratitude for the Government’s support for the Ministry, and to the BDF for dedicating part of the housing unit for its members.
The Major-General Saqer Al Noa’mi, Director of Supply and Logistics, also gave a speech in which he highlighted that the housing project is part of a number of accomplishments by the BDF in the housing field. Major-General Al Noa’mi also underscored His Majesty’s directives and support, and praised the close coordination between the BDF, Ministry of Works, and the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA).
Major General Faisal Ali Al Sissi Al Bounain, representing the BDF beneficiaries of the housing units, also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad, highlighting His Majesty’s commitment to addressing the needs of Bahrain’s citizens and providing a stable and secure social environment for all.
His Royal Highness then turned over 283 housing units to the members of the BDF and extended his congratulations. His Royal Highness further emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to such projects that continue to address the needs of Bahrain’s citizens and improve public services. His Royal Highness concluded by praising the efforts of the BDF and other bodies who contributed to the project.
His Royal Highness was received at the ceremony by BDF Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshall Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, National Guard Commander His Highness Lieutenant-General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, His Excellency Minister of State for Defence Staff Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chief of Staff Major-General Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, as well as other senior officials of the government and BDF officers.
