HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issues Edict (17) of 2026

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Edict (17) of 2026 extending the term of municipal councils, in light of the current circumstances and their repercussions.

Article (I)

The term of municipal councils shall be extended for a period of six months from the date of expiry. Municipal councils shall continue to carry out their duties until the formation of new councils is completed.

Article (II)

The relevant authorities, each within their remit, shall implement the provisions of this edict, which shall take effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
